301 Redirect

301 redirect refers to an HTTPS code that redirects users from the requested URL to a different URL and informs search engines that the requested URL has been moved permanently. In simpler words, a permanent redirect from one URL to another is known as a 301 redirect.

Importance of 301 redirect in SEO

Types of redirects

  1. 301 redirect: A 301 redirect is permanent and is recommended for SEO. As it passes full link equity to redirected page.
  2. 302 Redirect: 302 redirect is an HTTPS code indicating to search engines that the page has been temporarily moved to a different location.

Meta Refresh: Meta refresh redirects refer to redirect executed on the page level instead of server level. It is also not recommended for SEO, as they can result in a slower user experience.
